RUNDU – The town of Rundu is to host a Youth Games Tournament with over 450 anticipated participants, sponsored by Otb Sport and to be hosted by the Directorate of Sport and SCORE Namibia.

Over the past six weeks, constituency tournaments have taken place every weekend and now the winners of these particular tournaments progress to the regional tournament, which takes place tomorrow and Sunday.

Sau Mangundu, the regional sport officer and SCORE Namibia’s community coordinator for the region, Jerry Hausiku, are responsible for organizing the event with the ultimate idea of taking sport to all corners of the Kavango Region.

“We believe youth sport for development is fundamental to the early development of children, because the skills learned contribute to the holistic development of young people. Through participation in sport, young people learn about the importance of key values such as honesty, team work, fair play, respect for themselves and others and adherence to rules,” Hausiku explained.
