TSANDI- The crowning of Miss Mwaala Secondary School in the Omusati Region is on June 23.

Organiser, Kamati Petrus, says the main purpose of the beauty pageant  is to raise money for the school through selling entry tickets to the pageant. Petrus adds that  the pageant is also meant to expose learners and to train them to take part in upcoming similar events. Petrus, who is also well-known as a local Kwaito artist, P2K, says the event will also expose local and upcoming artists within the Tsandi community and beyond.

“This is a free opportunity we will give to the local artist to test the stage for free and expose themselves to the community,” says he.

Since the show is on June 23 in the school’s dining hall , they are fearing this could be too cold for the contestants.  The young teacher and talented musician is requesting local businesspeople to donate anything they have to the school to bring development especially in view of the financial problems of the school.

“Local businessmen within our areas are very reluctant, they do not want to give back to the community, school learners are the most supporters of their business especially the ones who are accommodated in hostel,” says Petrus.

Artists such as Okocha, Luca Bust, Sbu and many other local upcoming artists from the area will be providing entertainment. Petrus says any other artists who are willing to perform at Miss Mwaala next weekend for free, may contact him at 0813104569, or visit the school’s office and ask for Ekandjo Onesmus, Nashilundo Rose-Mary and Willem Elias.

The judges will be teachers from neighbouring high schools such as Shikongo Iipinge, David Sheehama and the  Etalaleko Senior Secondary School.
