Once again the adrenalin-pumping drag races will be taking place this Saturday 2 June, at the Tony Rust Track, where the fast and the furious will be pushing their speedometers to the limit and burn rubber till your nostrils flair.

The organizing committee from the Windhoek Motor Club has been hard at work putting this event together - the third leg of the Namibian National drag competition - which is going to pump from the minute the first car fires its engine.

Adding to the fuel-charged atmosphere, a music fest which will include a South African DJ ‘Ready D’ celebrity and others who will be making music all day. The promotional company Druza’s will be setting up an awesome sound system from the Coca-Cola music truck parked at the track.

The gates will open at 8h00 and the day's activities will start at 9h30. Drag racing will start with official practice to let the competitors fine tune there vehicles before letting rip. The national event will start between 11h00 and 12h00 depending on entries and practice.

Organisers are expecting a large turnout of entries in the bike, quad and car categories, and if anyone feels they want to burn some rubber down the drag strip, they are welcome to enter themselves for the day – just bring your crash helmet along.

Championship leaders in the four-cylinder category are Jaco Kotze, Willem Visser, Jaco Theron, and Deval Theunissen in a thumping six cylinder turbo Levin are just some of the guys to watch out for. This is where the sparks will fly, and anyone who wants to watch a serious dice, should be at the track on Saturday to witness the ‘big guns’ chasing championship points.

As a crowd pleaser some of the guys will bring their machines out onto the track for some spinning (doughnuts), whilst others will be entertaining the spectators with their drifting skills. The car with the fastest time of the day stands to win an awesome flat screen TV sponsored by TV Works.

Gate entries are N$40 per person. We also invite anyone who has a fast vehicle and is interested in drags to contact Geh???????? Visagie, 0811242322, and he will write you up for the day.
