Wilro Dippenaar and navigator Mornay du Toit won this weekend’s Okahandja rally convincingly in their PZN Panelbeaters Toyota Run-x, which shot ahead of the field of ten competitors in a time of 00:56:52.
With the racey Run-X way out in front the competition was fierce for the second spot. Also driving a Toyota Run-X Cecil Koortz and Oscar Schoombee shot into second spot in a time of 01:08:23, with the PZN Panelbeaters Daewoo Lanos of Jandre Dippenaar and navigator Salome Botha hot on their heels only three seconds behind.
The positions stayed much the same until the finish except for a very good show by newcomers Gunther Skutsch, who was behind the steering wheel for the first time, and Stefan du Raan in a PZN Panelbeaters Hyundai Accent. They pipped in at fourth place overall at the end and got their class win.
Richard Owen and Eugene Viviers who finished fifth in a VW Polo and Hanre Myburgh and Geon Ellis in a Toyota Conquest posted very good times but unfortunately both lost a lot of time with punctures.
The Redline Motor Club again presented an excellent event where a very good spirit and camaraderie were experienced amongst the competitors. Together with the good turn-out of spectators and support from the Okahandja Motor Club, the sponsors Auas Motors, Corporate Guarantee and Mutual & Federal got more than their money’s worth.
