WINDHOEK - DTS together with the generous sponsorship of Maerua Superspar will once again offer a 7-series tournament this year. The club received a staggering N$30 000 sponsorship from Maerua Superspar.

The lion’s share, a whopping N$28000, will go towards prize monies (N$4000 per tournament), while N$2000 has been set aside for other prizes at the end of the year.

In reality, all the sponsorship money will be channeled back to the players offering them the incentive to win a maximum of N$500 per category. “For most of the players it is not only the money that attracts them to play volleyball, but to have a day full of fun; being outdoors and active; being competitive and having a mission for that day,” said Heiko Kesselmann, DTS Beach Volleyball event organizer.

The popular 4-a-side mixed category has shown that there is a growing demand for social volleyball, while the competition also offers 2-a-side social teams to take part on the sand courts in the Youth Division for those social 4-a-side players who want to try “real” beach volleyball. The junior ladies category has also developed into a popular division for school girls.

The tournaments will be hosted in Windhoek at the DTS field, as well the Beach Volleyball Arena with 3 sand courts and some courts on the grass for the 4-a-side social category. A fourth court is under construction and is expected to will be in operation sometime during the course of the year.

For people who love volleyball, but are beginners or social players, the 4-a-side category is the best opportunity to try their luck. Get your company or social group together and play a fun-filled, well-organized tournament (similar to the annual Volleyball for All), but just with fewer teams.

The tourney is offered on a regular basis and this year no registered players from the Bank Windhoek Premier Indoor League are allowed to compete in this social category. The first two tournaments have already been hosted while the next tournament will take place on June 16.
