WINDHOEK – The opening round proper of the annual Leo NFA Cup produced an avalanche of goals as matches in the last 32 got underway at three different venues last weekend.In matches played at the Mokati stadium in Otjiwarongo on Saturday - a double brace by Alfred Nyenge and a hat-trick apiece via the boots of Pineas ‘Heel Extension’ Jacob and Asprilla Wermann steered Civics to a runaway 13-1 win over hapless Kavango United. Ashley Jossob, Sedecias Haukambe and Tuyeni Tugela completed the riot for Woody Jacobs’ rampant Civilians. United Stars easily saw off Oshikango United 6-1 while Orlando Pirates registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Golden Bees. Young Rangers defeated Onambula United 4-1 and Eleven Arrows raked in 7 goals without a replay against Omeege United. In the only matches played at the Kuisebmond stadium in Walvis-Bay, Oshikandela Ramblers waltzed past Sailors 6-0 and Black Africa added to Blue Waters’ woes – beating the coastal outfit 3-1. In Windhoek, Cymot Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) was given a scare by lower division campaigners Tura Magic after Jakes Amaning’s young brigade came from 2 goals down to force the tie into a penalty shootout at the SKW stadium. The hosts emerged 7-6 winners after a tense marathon penalty shootout following a 2-all stalemate. Chief Santos beat Young Beauties 2-1 and Try Again saw off Gariseb Orlando Pirates by a solitary goal while African Stars dispatched fellow Premiership campaigners Wesbank Tigers 2-0. In yesterday’s action at the Mokati stadium in Otjiwarongo – Spoilers ran riot against Space Age as the Okahandja base outfit emerged 6-1 victors. African Lions defeated Shaluza Chiefs 4-1 and Unam Ongongo claimed the scalps of Oshakati City – dispatching the Premier league outfit 3-2 in a five-goal thriller. Mighty Gunners scraped past a stubborn Bee Bop Brothers 5 - 4 on penalties after the two sides were locked 2-all in regulation time.
