WINDHOEK - Namibia Street Athletics has expressed gratitude towards their sponsors, athletes, fans and supporters for their contributions in making the street mile and high jump promotion a huge success.
The street mile delivered a mixture of feelings when Reinhold Ita took gold in the senior men’s division with a lightning time of 4 min. 18.35 seconds with Meinhard Kauanivi in second with 4 min. 20.80 seconds.
Namibia’s leading long distance runner Erich Goeieman, had to be satisfied with a disappointing 3rd place after clocking 4 min. 21.45sec for the less prestigious bronze medal.
Helenna Ipinge was the only female runner and she finished with a time of 4 min. 51.25sec.
Loop Masters won the senior category in the street soccer tournament with Young Guns taking home the trophy in the junior category. The high jump delivered good results with Millan Maasdorp clearing a height of 1.85m, Gregory Cloete 1.75m and Attie Joubert reaching 1.65m.
The dancers took it to the streets and the accolades went to the Jokers, with CAM in second place – leaving Belly Dancers to pick up the pieces for 3rd place.
