Your vote for Swapo is a vote for a secure future, peace and prosperity. The Swapo Party remains the only driving force for change in Namibia. The party has delivered on its promises to the Namibia nation over the past 19 years and remains a tried and tested political party with the credibility and capacity to yet again deliver on its promises.
The Swapo Party recognises the importance of democracy, peace, stability and the rule of law as prerequisites for socio-economic advancement. Swapo has put strong emphasis on the process of national reconciliation, nation building and unity of the people of Namibia while embarking upon the second phase of the struggle, that of economic reconstruction and development. The Swapo Party is experienced and tested in the art of governing. As such, the party subscribes to the principle of transparency, accountability and good governance through the checks and balances inherent in our democratic system. The opposition parties should try to understand that Swapo in the minds of people is not just the party of Cde Nujoma, the founding president, or Cde Pohamba the current president, but Swapo in the minds of people is like a place of worship where our spirits meet with our heroes and heroines, those whose blood waters our freedom. It is a place where our history and that of ancestors is interned, an institution that connects our past and future. That's why walking away from Swapo is considered as a form of betrayal of these sacred tenets. It is this minefield that the opposition parties should try to navigate and not just unveiling political programmes and manifestos. The Swapo Party is like an elephant and you cannot actually topple an elephant. For the new-born political party leaders, political personalization has always been their favourite cup of tea. I really regard their action and campaign as a storm in a teacup. It is a pity that there are people who are telling us to discard and forget about our own liberation icon such as Cde Sam Nujoma our founding president. This school of thought has its rightful place in the dustbin of history. Nujoma led the most successful independence or liberation movement in Namibia and the rest of Africa. Swapo did not take power by the barrel of the gun but its diplomatic and military efforts contributed the most among Namibia nationalist movements to the last phase of Namibia's independence. Let us not betray our own liberators, those who sacrificed their whole life for the struggle, freedom and independence of this country. Our liberation icon like cde Sam Nujoma, the late David Meroro, Cde Andimba ya Toivo, late Rev Hendrik Witbooi, Greenwell Matongo, Tobias Hainyeko, Peter Nanyemba, Nathaneal Maxuilili, to mention but a few. They liberated our country guided by the spirit of our ancestors, our forefathers, leaders like Kahimemua Nguvauva, Tjamuaha Maharero, Samuel Maharero, Nehale ya Mpingana, Ipumbu ya Shilongo, Mandume Ndemufayo, Captain Hendrick Witbooi and Chief Hosea Kutako. What we are trying to do is to separate an apple from a banana for the sake of our development and state project in which we do not compromise. Unity, peace and stability are only possible in an environment where citizens are imbued with moral values, cultural identity, self-respect and dignity. The Swapo Party will put in place a policy that supports the role of traditional leaders in our country. Therefore, cultural diversity in a nation should not be used as a dividing factor but rather something to strengthen communities. These goals will be achieved by voting Swapo. Vote correctly and remember that Namibia's independence gained in 1990 was never handed on a silver platter but was a result of years of struggle and hard work. The SPYL have a special rank during the liberation movement. It is young people who have consistently been the radical ideas, the most courageous and outspoken activities. Their leading section has always been students at high school or training colleges. A tiny fraction of their age group because of the discriminatory structure of the education system but a powerful political force because of their clear understanding of the education system, but a powerful political force because of their clear understanding of the system of exploration and their readiness to act as catalysts in other forms of struggle. The SPYL was the blossoming flower during the liberation struggle of Namibia. Let us vote Swapo and stand together and fight for the development in the country in which God created us. - Nguvituna Mc David Meroro, member of the Swapo Party Youth League, grandson of liberation icon, hero of the Namibian nation, father figure of the liberation struggle, the mobilizer, and former Swapo national chairman, the late Comrade David Hosea Meroro.
