WINDHOEK â€" The peak of the weekend's MTC Premiership top of the table clash between Orlando and African Stars tonight promises plenty of fireworks. The two in form Katutura giants will confront each other at the Sam Nujoma Stadium near Katutura, tonight (20h00). Both teams are unbeaten in the current campaign after eight rounds of matches in the lucrative premiership. The Buccaneers are in fine form and have been finding the net regularly and their strike rate has become a nightmare to most opponents in the league of late. Despite going into their penultimate clash without the services of influential midfielder Mohammed "Slice" Ouseb (suspension) and reliable centre back Enrico Afrikaner (knee) coach Dawid Snewe is highly confident of registering a rare win over the defending champions. "We are ready for the match and I can't see why we should not take all three points. In fact, I'm flabbergasted by the hype around Stars â€" I really don't see anything special in their playing style. They are too one dimensional and should pose little danger, if any, for my boys because we have hit form at the right time and should be able to silence them," said Snewe. His counterpart, Bobby Samaria is a man of few words and could confirm that he has a fully fit squad to choose from for tonight's clash. "You should know me by now â€" I'm not in the habit of talking before the match â€" we will do the business on the playing field and do the talking after the final whistle, so, call me after the match and I'll freely talk to you my friend." In tomorrow's action, Cymot Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) entertain United Stars at the SKW Stadium in Olympia on the outskirts of Windhoek (16h00). The Germans are still licking their wounds after last weekend's humiliating defeat at the hands of defending champions African Stars in a one-sided match at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. Imawida will be looking at redeeming themselves at the expense of the exciting Rundu based outfit who have proven to be tricky travelers. FNB Oshakati City host fellow stable mates Eleven Arrows at the Uukwangula Stadium in Emandu (16h00) in a must win match for the home team. The northern giants are lingering dangerously at the wrong end of the MTC Premiership log table and another lackluster showing could see then sink deeper in the relegation zone. The coastal side has been in fine form of late and should have little trouble in seeing off their struggling opponents. Arrows will be minus inspirational skipper George Hummel who is nursing an injury after the stalwart defender pulled a hamstring during his team's narrow win over Hotspurs in Windhoek last weekend. Black Africa and Blue Waters complete the weekend's lineup when the two title-chasing sides square up in what promises to be a real humdinger at the Sam Nujoma Stadium near Katutura (19h00). Ali Akan's fired charges are fresh from their runaway win over struggling Oshikandela Ramblers in their last league match and will be looking at extending their good run of late against Lucky Shipanga's unpredictable team. The Birds were held to an uninspiring 1-all draw by the league new boys United Stars in Grootfontein last weekend. Another lukewarm performance could see them dropping out of the title race. Civics and Hotspurs shared the spoils in a thrilling 8-goal thriller at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Wednesday. Back to Top |
