WINDHOEK - Namibia’s Under-20s will face South Africa, Comoros and Seychelles in Group A when the annual Cosafa Under-20 Youth Championship gets underway in Johannesburg, on the 6th of next month.
The young Warriors open their assault in the youth tourney with a date against hosts South Africa at Dobsonville Stadium on the opening day of proceedings. “It is going to be tough to play against those countries but we have the players that can compete at that level and they have been together for quite some time now,” said a confident team manager, Jakes Amaning, Reigning champions Zimbabwe are pitted in Group C alongside Botswana and Lesotho. Group B have Mozambique, Madagascar and Swaziland with Group D comprising of Angola, Zambia and Mauritius. The match venues for the competition are Dobsonville, Meadowlands and Eldorado Park stadia which are all in the greater Soweto area with the opening and closing matches taking place at the Dobsonville Stadium. The competition requires member nations to submit their final team lists by the 27th of this month, which will include 20 players and five officials, including a referee to be appointed by the COSAFA Referees Committee. The competition ends on December 15. Participating nations are as follows: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Back to Top |
