WINDHOEK - Ten young Namibian dancers recently returned from a two-week performance visit to Berlin, as part of the "shared experiences" project of p.art.ners berlin-windhoek. The visit was the first part of an exchange between Namibian and German dancers and will be followed up in 2009 by a return visit of the German dancers to Namibia. In Berlin, the dancers rehearsed together with dancers from the Faster-Than-Light Dance Company under the choreographer, Volker Eisenach; and have presented the results of this workshop in three shows in Berlin and Potsdam. Local choreographer and filmmaker, Philippe Talavera, from the Ombijeta Yehinga Organisation accompanied the dance troupe "Right from the start there was a great interaction between the dancers and this was very fundamental for the shows' success. The 'Experience:Dance!' performances consisted of three own dance pieces which we have brought along from Namibia, as well as the joint piece 'Fallen' to the music of the Requiem of Mozart. It is an abstract piece about war, fighting and reconciliation," Talavera said of the performances of which two were sold out. Back to Top |
