WINDHOEK - The Wild Cinema Film Festival Trust (WCFF Trust), organisers of the Windhoek International Film Festival, is once again looking forward to another exciting, bigger and better edition of the Wild Cinema Windhoek International Film Festival for 2009. On this occasion the WCFF Trust would like to invite all professional Namibian filmmakers to submit their recent productions (production year 2006-2008) for consideration for the 3rd Namibia Film Awards.
The festival will take place from April 17 to 26, 2009 in Windhoek and will once again showcase a careful selection of the latest international, African and Namibian films. The festival programme will consist of features, documentaries, short films and music videos from all over the world, and aims to feature and promote productions from the Namibian film industry. Namibian submissions of professional stan-dard will be considered for public screening at the festival, qualifying for the 3rd Namibia Film Awards and, in selected categories, for the Wild Cinema Audience Choice Award. Productions will be judged on their overall professional standard, including criteria like directing, cinematography, soundtrack, editing, script writing and art direction, among others. An independent panel of jurors selected from the Namibian film industry and key stakeholder institutions, consisting of new members each year, will decide on the nature of the award categories. Organisers of the festival will once again welcome submissions of music videos for the upcoming festival as this represents the most prolific genre of the local film industry. Entries in this category will be rewarded with the genre specific award, "Best Music Video". All awarded productions will receive cash prizes as well as wide public recognition here and abroad. For consideration in the 2009 film festival selection, please submit your viewing tapes on DV Cam/ Mini DV and DVD with a completed official application form. Only original work will be considered and productions that have not been previously submitted and/or screened at the Wild Cinema Windhoek International Film Festival. Only entries produced between 2006 and 2008 will be considered. The deadline for entries is January 15, 2009. Back to Top |
