WINDHOEK - Brave Warriors coach Tom Saintfiet is in mean mood and says there will be no free lunch for the visiting Bafana Bafana. The weakened Bafana Bafana have a date with an equally under strength Brave Warriors side in a warm-up clash at the Sam Nujoma Stadium near Katutura tonight (20h00). Although the South Africans label the touring entourage as a development side - the squad boasts a significant number of seasoned campaigners led by Kaizer Chiefs defender Wayne Matle and his Naturena teammate George Lebese. In addition, the likes of Manqoba 'Shakes' Ngwenya, Joseph 'Duku Duku' Makanya, Bongani Twala, Thuso Phala, Mduduzi Nyanda, Buti Khoza, Bafo Biyela, Rudzani Ramudzuli, Lennox Bacela and Warren Bishop are all household names and could pose a danger for any opponent. Warriors mentor Saintfiet is pretty much aware of the strength of the South Africans and is not taking any chances. "Obviously, our primary target is to win our opening match against Zambia in the Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup in Harare on Saturday. The match against South Africa (tonight) will give us a clear indication as to where we are in terms of preparation, while we will also use the opportunity to introduce new players into our playing system and tactics,"¯ Saintfiet said. The Warriors have been boosted by the arrival of defenders Hartman Toromba, Sydney Plaatjies and Steven Goagab - but the squad will have to do without the services of Nelson Geingob. The reliable left back is tying the knot this weekend and has requested to be withdrawn from the travelling entourage. Saintfiet is likely to start with his preferred lineup that would do duty against Zambia on Saturday, when the Namibians take on South Africa tonight. The 27-member provisional squad will be trimmed down to 19 after tonight's match. Back to Top |
