WINDHOEK - Allegations of witchcraft and racism remarks are central to the eviction of Johannes /Uirab from farm Naos in Gamsberg Pass. /Uirab, who was evicted from the farm over a dispute of grazing fees, says the farm owner, who is his namesake, Johannes Scholtz, used witchcraft to intimidate him from the land. /Uirab claims that Scholtz buried monkey bones and other unknown bones around his goat pens and placed a monkey skull in one of the goat pens. /Uirab together with fellow /Khomanin clan members are camping at farm Naos and on Saturday staged a brief demonstration at Scholtz's farmhouse. The demonstrators, about 50 or so, accompanied by the /Khomanin Traditional, Chief Josephath Gawa-!Nab, asked to talk to Scholtz, who only came out briefly to ask if they were "enjoying themselves" before going back into the house. Khomas Regional Councillor Frederick Arie also escorted the demonstrators to the farmhouse together with Khomas regional officers. After nearly 30 minutes, demonstrators left the farm and returned to their camping area outside farm Naos. Back to Top |
