WINDHOEK - An Air Namibia aircraft from Germany had to make an emergency landing last week in Frankfurt after it experienced engine failure in mid-air. The plane, an Airbus A340, experienced engine problems shortly after take-off from Frankfurt for Windhoek, after which the pilot decided to dump fuel and return to Frankfurt for an emergency landing.
Managing Director of Air Namibia, Kosmos Egumbo says the plane landed safely back in Frankfurt. "The accident is being investigated and we are waiting for the results on what caused that incident," said Egumbo yesterday. Air Namibia dispatched a second A340 to assist stranded passengers. "We do not take the incident lightly, thus we have removed the aircraft from service and have put it in for inspection," said Egumbo. Back to Top |
